Slipped Disk Conditions & Treatments

SlippedDisk Conditions & Treatments :The disks are protective shock-absorbing pads between the bones of the spine. The disks of the spine are also referred to as intervertebral disks. Although they do not actually "slip," a disk may move, split, or rupture.

Injury or weakness can cause the inner portion of the disk to protrude through the outer ring. This is known as a slipped disk.

A  slippeddisk can be very painful. It means one of the discs in your spine has been damaged and may be pressing on a nerve.

If the slipped disk compresses one of your spinal nerves, you may also experience numbness and pain along the affected nerve. In severe instances, may require surgery to remove or repair the slipped disk.

Symptoms of a slipped disk include:

  • Pain and numbness /deadness most commonly on one side of the body
  • Pain occurs after standing or sitting
  • Unexplained muscle weakness
  • Be irritated, aching, or burning sensations in the affected area
  • Pain when walking short distances
  • Pain that extends to your arms and/or legs
  • Pain that become worse at night

The good news is that a slipped disc generally gets better on its own, usually within about six weeks. Many people experience no symptoms from a slip disk.Non Surgical minimally invasive treatment is there for slip disk,A conservative, non-surgical treatment for slipped disc is always the initial approach. If conservative efforts fail, surgery will be the only alternative method.Minimally invasive surgery is becoming the more popular alternative considering the risks associated with traditional open back surgery.
